The beautiful city of Seville is the cultural and financial centre of the south of Spain. It’s also the country’s fourth largest city, and the capital of the sun-kissed Andalucia region. Over the centuries this seaport has played a very important role as a trading post during Roman times, in the Moorish era and in the time of trade with the newly-discovered Americas. This legacy has left Seville with a number of fantastic historical, cultural and religious landmarks that make Seville travel a treat for the visitor.

The largest building of the entire Gothic period, for example, is Seville’s 15th Century cathedral. This place of worship - a former mosque - is also notable for its crossover between Moorish and Christian influences. Make sure to visit this incredible building during your Seville travel. Another fantastic building that also marries Muslim and Christian styles is the Royal Palace of Alcazár - a magnificent 14th Century edifice that remains an official residence of Spain’s royal family. And don’t forget to pay a visit to the Torre del Oro, a watchtower whose façade has become the iconic image of this city.

Of course, Seville travel is not just about history – there are plenty of amazing cultural sights to be enjoyed as well. Top of the list is the Museum of Fine Arts, considered to be the second most important gallery in the world for Spanish art. Another famous art form native to this part of the world is flamenco – if you are interested in dance you should definitely pay a visit to the Flamenco Dance Museum.

If you are not so interested in spending your Seville travel time at museums, you will be happy to know that there are several great beach areas within easy reach of the city. The Cádiz area, for example, is reputed to have some of the best coastline in all of Spain and is just over an hour’s drive away. There are also the many beaches and seafront dining and nightlife of the world-famous Costa del Sol region, less than three hours away by car and also accessible by a cheap short-haul flight to Malaga.

Another great aspect of Seville travel is the access to some high class golf courses. In most cases situated just minutes outside the city, these courses offer you the chance to play some golf in the sun without taking up too much of your holiday time.

Lastly, you won’t be short of shopping opportunities when you visit Seville - the city is full of great markets, specialty shops and shopping malls where you can find all kinds of exotic gifts and other interesting objects to take home with you.
